Germany's Grings departs Duisburg

Germany striker Inka Grings has been released by FCR 2001 Duisburg.
EURO top scorer
The 27-year-old helped Duisburg to an impressive third place behind 2005/06 UEFA Women's Cup finalists 1. FFC Frankfurt and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam last season, while in her international career she has been capped 64 times and helped Germany win UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2005™, scoring a tournament-leading four goals in the finals. However, she recently threatened to leave unless coach Dietmar Herhaus was dismissed, and club chairman Ferdi Seidelt confirmed her sacking.
Sacking confirmed
"There won't be a return for Inka Grings," Seidelt said. "A further offence to the good reputation of the league and the club is not acceptable. The coach and the team have the right to work in peace." Duisburg lie second in the Bundesliga and on Sunday defeated holders Potsdam 3-2 in the German Cup.
